I think my favorite part of photo conventions, seminars and workshops is the social interaction with other photographers that takes place on breaks, before or after the program, or while sharing a meal afterwards. It's so cool just to meet new people, and I really grateful for all the feedback I received and for the gratitude so many people expressed for my blogs. I sure feels nice when I know that people appreciate what I am doing. it makes it so worth while. Thanks to everyone who sent me photos or tagged me on Facebook. I know I posed for more photos than these, so if you have more, send me an email or just tag me on FB. Thanks so much for making me feel special.

And folks in the southern cities of the Free to Succeed Tour, I am sorry I can't come visit y'all as well, but I really need to get back and try to finish thebschool.com asap (new trailer on the actual site now). And seriously, DJ knocks it out of the park. The stuff he shares on pricing, emotion and marketing without advertising it well worth the price of admission and then some.

The crew got to visit the WHite House one morning and then we all had breakfast at the Old Ebbott Grill.

All I have to say is the east coast humidity doesn't do so well with my hair. I'm just sayin'!

A few more from Kenny Kim:

CHECK BACK TUESDAY FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

It's been a crazy couple of days. After hosting the [ b ] school beta launch BBQ, I headed out on a red eye flight to the Big Apple, where we had some important [ b ] school meetings with some very important people. Then I made an appearance at the Free to Succeed Tour in NYC and Boston.

Thanks to Kenny Kim & Regis Chen for snagging these photos of me telling it like it is!

I'm looking forward to speaking to the Washington DC crew tonight! Unfotunately I won't be able to make it to any more cities because I have to get back home to work on finishing the site.

Why am I so happy?:

Because I had such a great time hosting a little BBQ for a few close friend Sunday afternoon where we opened up the private beta of the [ b ] school! Finally!

I am so stoked on the response I've been getting in the last 24 hours and I am just so thankful for my friends that are helping me "massage" the site before we start letting more people in. Check back tomorrow for some actual testimonials and thoughts that others shared... until then, check out a few images:

Gene Higa (far right) was sharing a tall tale with Joel Serrato & Jose Villa.

Kevin Swan popped in from Indianapolis. He's quite the business guru and I was so stoked he could make it.

Dance party USA! Wait until you see the video of this little routine.

Seriously folks, please check back tomorrow to see what others are saying about what they've seen so far!

Hey class, if you are an iPhone user, check out thebecker.com on your phone. It "magically" knows if you are browsing on an iPhone and will take you to a mini portfolio and contact page, instead of just being a blank page with a bunch of metadata. It comes in handy if you have a flash only website. It's only $50 and it just took a few minutes to set up. I think it's pretty slick and hopefully it'll appeal to my nerdy Mac lovin' clients!

(In the interest of full disclosure, the maker of this site gave it to me to check out, and I told them I'd only blog about it if I liked it, and I do).

Go ahead and click the banner below if you'd like to order.

Hey folks... I had a blast in Denver the other night at the Free to Succeed Tour and I am stoked to head to the east coast for a few more shows next week. I have an important [ b ] school meeting in New York City the same day DJ and Co will be in the Big Apple, so I'll stop by for sure. I am also going to cruise up to Boston for that show... then I'll actually be speaking again at the Washington DC show. I am trying to arraign my schedule to hit up a few more cities in the south, but I am not sure if it's going to happen.

Either way, David Jay has an excellent program with great information. I didn't realize how similarly we view so many topics such as pricing, customer service and attitude. Here are a couple images from the Denver show sent in by Vania (if anyone else has some images of me, send them over por favor!):

***Unfortunately my schedule is completely booked on this trip and I am at the mercy of the tour bus schedule and I won't have time for any private lunches or 1 on 1 meetings, but I will be at each hotel at least an hour before the show starts if you'd like to come by and say hello and/or ask a question.

UPDATE: I had to post this action photo of me from R. J. Kerns. There are many more cool shots on his blog including the result from the image above.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I am posting this. How embarrassing! How cheesy. I feel dirty for taking this photo...

Well, not exactly. You see, the thing is, no matter how cool I try to make myself out to be, no matter how much of an "artiste" I am, not matter how much I try to define my style and take pride in the job that I do... the bottom line is I am in a service business and I do whatever it takes to keep my clients happy.

When the bride's mom suggested this pose towards the end of the bridal portrait session, I was like, "Really?" and she said she knew it was kinda cheesy, but she has a picture like that in her wedding album and wanted one of the daughter. I joked with her that I'd be happy to take it for her, but she wasn't allowed to tell anyone that I shot it. (notice the lack of [ b ] logo or branding on the image above). We had a good laugh and I just shot it. Pride swallowed, client happy.

Go ahead and poke fun at me... I have thick skin. Now if the bride's mom want the bouquets arranged on her train, I'd have to draw the line and punch her in the face! - I might as well drop this image into B&W leaving the flowers in color. Bleh!

Anyways... If you always do whatever it takes to keep your clients happy, you'll have plenty of business!
